Posttraumatic stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder resulting from exposure to a traumatic event. The purpose of this study was to examine the exposure to Potentially Traumatic Events (PTE) and the prevalence of PTSD among students at the University of Lund. Sexdifferences among these variables were also examined. Using surveys as research method, 380 students from five different faculties participated. The results indicated that these students have been more exposed to PTE than the general Swedish population.

Sammanfattning:Denna studie syftar till att fånga upplevelser av hur livet kan förändras i positiv riktning efter bearbetandet av en nära anhörigs suicid, med fokus på posttraumatic growth och positiva förändringar. Studien utgör ett bidrag till forskningsområdet där trauma ses som en möjlig grogrund för gynnsam utveckling hos den drabbade individen. Kvalitativa intervjuer genomfördes med sex personer som alla mist en nära anhörig i suicid. Deltagarna uttryckte PTG inom temana självperception, interpersonella relationer och livsfilosofi. Följande positiva förändringar framkom: förändringar i personligheten, ändrade prioriteringar, möten med människor på ett djupare plan, ny syn på döden, värdesätter tid med familjen mer, djupare glädje och tacksamhet, samt nya möjligheter.

Varje dag utsätts människor för brott i Sverige och att utsättas för brott kan leda till både emotionella och praktiska svårigheter. Att den brottsutsatta har möjlighet till stöd och hjälp efter händelsen kan minska de negativa följderna av brottet, såsom PTSD och sekundär viktimisering. I många kommuner i Sverige finns lokala brottsofferjourer som finns till för de brottsutsatta, men i distriktet Östra Norrbotten finns det ingen verksamhet som specifikt täcker detta område. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka om poliserna i Östra Norrbotten upplever att de kan erbjuda eller hänvisa de brottsutsatta individerna tillräcklig hjälp. Åtta poliser i distriktet intervjuades för att på så sätt ta del av deras upplevelser.

Earlier psychological research on stress and its complex of problems has identified several factors which have shown a relation with the occurrence of a poorer mental ill-health. In this study some of these factors have been examined in 69 police officers from Stockholm, Lund and Helsingborg. In the study, police officers with high and low self reported ill-health were compared considering trait anxiety, alexithymia and Posttraumatic stress symptoms.The results showed that police officers with poorer mental ill health had a significant higher degree of trait anxiety, the dimension of alexithymia difficulty identifying feelings and the PTSD-dimension avoidance and hyperarousal. The results also showed several positive relations among the variables that divided the groups. On account of the last-mentioned the results will above all be discussed in an integrating perspective..

SAMMANFATTNINGSyfte: Att beskriva förekomst av posttraumatisk stress och behov av känslomässigt stöd bland föräldrar till barn med hjärntumör vid två månader efter barnets diagnos (T2) respektive 12 månader efter avslutad cytostatika-/strålbehandling eller 18 månader efter operation av barn som inte fått cytostatika-/strålbehandling (T6). Syftet var också att jämföra behovet av känslomässigt stöd bland föräldrar med möjlig PTSD och hos de föräldrar som inte visar symtom på möjlig PTSD vid T2 respektive T6. Urval: 42 föräldrar till barn med hjärntumör deltog i studien: 20 mödrar och 22 fäder. Metod: Designen var deskriptiv longitudinell. Nivåer av PTSS och förekomst av möjlig PTSD mättes med PTSD Checklist Civilian, föräldrars behov av känslomässigt stöd mättes med ett studiespecifikt formulär.

Syftet var att undersöka högkänslighet och stress hos studenter. Metoden var en kvantitativ jämförande studie mellan grupper (kvinnor och män). Undersökningen genomfördes genom en elektronisk enkät. Urvalet var ett tillfällighetsurval av kvinnor och män i åldrarna 19 ? 56 som studerade vid ett universitet, totalt 122 stycken deltagare, 31 män och 91 kvinnor.

Denna undersökning handlar om stress i förskolan. Syftet med undersökning är att ta reda på hur förskollärare i en förskola upplever stress i sitt arbete och vad förskollärarna gör för att minska sin stress. Dessa frågeställningar har varit centrala i min studie. Hur definierar förskolläraren sin egen stress i det vardagliga arbetet? Vad gör förskollärarna för att minska stressen i förskolan? Den metoden jag använde mig av var kvalitativa intervjuer som genomfördes med fyra förskollärare.

The purpose of this empirical study was to investigate if stress exists among nurses, and if it exists how do they experience it and how do they cope whit it. The nurses also got to define the word stress. Karasek and Theorells demandcontrollmodell were used as a theoretical framework. The result of the study answers our research questions and gives us a good insight how the nurses experience stress and how they cope with it. The result shows that 56 of 60 nurses indicated that they experience medium to high level of stress a couple of days a week or more often and that it affects their work.
